The link below is to the Irish Railway News website, probably the only informative and accurate railway website in Ireland (other than this one, of course!). Some engineer in Irish Rail has come up with a novel way to waste his/her time and our money, by decomissioning the perfectly usable and integrated railway station at Rosslare Europort and building a new station in the old locomotive depot yard, some distance away from the ferry port.
It is this type of purposeless "investment" in railways that will give Irish Rail a bad name that it could do without going into an economic downturn as when investment gets cut, matters like this will be used by the Department of Finance to backup their assertions that investment in rail is not worth it. They are watching, you know. Unlike the IRA, Finance hasn't gone away.
