Whilst the deterioration from 1997 to 2005 is not that obvious in this scene, it can be seen that the paintwork on the canopy has been left to fall off, thereby exposing the timbers to elements. In addition, the props placed by Irish Rail to keep the canopy (part of a protected structure) from collapsing can be seen in the 2005 picture.
If left untreated, these will go the same way as the east end of the canopy.
